Checked How Much Insurance Would Be

Recommended Posts

was a bit bored today at work so had a look out of pure interest the insurance cost for an isf - came out at just under £850 fully comp for a 31yr old.... not bad at all i think.

but surprisingly the cost is about the same in the UK also.

I think I may have a better deal than both of you! About to renew at £880, fully comp.

I am more like the age of crazy-dee (23), but with mods similar to Wozza. Only 2 years NCB. One redeeming factor is probably my low crime postcode.

i work for directline and even with staff discount it was working out dearer than £1200, i got that through Halifax.

its most deffinatly the area code thats having the increase on price.

my issue believe it or not is my occupation, I either get a mega loading or no-quote at all :crybaby:

if you dont mind me asking what is your occupation?. there are ways round it with out voiding your insurance.

for example.... say your a market trader.

if you told the insurance company your occupation is a market retailer/trader (self employed) your insurance will be more expensive than if you told them your a "retailer" they are both the same job. but it wil have a impact for some stupid reason.

Why does being a DJ add so much to the premium? Is it that you'll often be travelling late at night and parking the car near lots of drunk people?

I guess it's something like that.

Have you thought about telling them you're unemployed (even if its only for a few days!) then just forgot to update them when you stated working again? I'd be tempted to do that, although maybe not strictly by the book, i cant see them doing much about it!

I'm guessing I'm supposed to be tempted by drink or drugs maybe ?

If fit chicks was a drug I'd be guilty as charged :yahoo:

Haha, so you're a regular user then :winky:

Probably not worth the risk though, as technically they'd be able to refuse cover..........

yep your on the right line.

its basically the nautre of the job. its the same with door men. working in clubs and pubs put you at high risk because if u get in a dipute with some one the 1st thing they will do is damage your car is they know which one it is or know where you live.

I'm getting proper miffed now, I can hardly get anyone to quote due to occupation,

and the few that do, only a couple will actually cover modified cars.

Tesco, Barclays, Norwich Union & Ensign will cover me so far with all mods declared ranging from £835 to over £1200.

I'm still waiting for A-Plan to call me back.

Im in the OL16 postcode, and Gord the M18 postcode although postcodes are rated (A = best, F=worst) and both come up on the insurance company database REFER! I've had many many companies refuse to quote simply because of the postcode :(

didn't think Direct Line quoted for modified cars or they didn't/wouldn't via go compare & money supermarket websites ?

The Aristo is insured with Swinton Specialist insurance and they were the only ones that gave me a quote that wasn't over two grand! :o They are a special divison of Swinton for modified and high performance cars.

Try Sky insurance too (sponser LOC and mkiv supra)

http://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/

Loads more specialists too..........

even better go onto moneysupermarket.com - do it that way round

True, but the figures you get from moneysupermarket and confused.com can only be taken with a pinch of salt because I don't think you can put vehicle mods on. Once you declare them to the actual insurance company, then prices can be a whole lot different! :(
