1998 LS 400

1998 Renault laguna V6

1993 Renault Safrane V6

1979 Renault 30 V6

1978 Renault 20

1979 Toyota Corolla

What can I say i use to like Renaults with V6 engines.

The Laguna ruined it for me. The most reliable car i had before a Lexus, but the worst to drive and the most boring.

Here's my list... not much suffering until I saw the light!

1992 - 1994: Seat Ibiza 1.2 (absolute heap of crap)

1994 - 1996: Nissan Bluebird 1.8 Turbo (great car, lots of toys for the time. Very quick acceleration but handling not so good)

1996 - 1999: Volvo S40 (From new, one of the 1st 40 brought into the UK. Very nice car, reasonably fast with great handling)

1999 - 2007: Lexus LS400 (3 year old jap import, had 12,000 miles when I bought it. A great car! Gave it to my sister last year!)

2007 - now: Lexus LS430 2005 model. Needless to say, an absolute gem. Although I do think the Bridgestone tyres are not as quiet as some of the ones I had on the LS400)

Here are mine:

1973 Ford Cortina Mk3 - still the best manual gearchange I've ever had. Rest of the car was rubbish though.

1980 Vauxhall Cavalier Mk1 Auto - one of my favourites, so easy to spin the rear wheels. Always fancied a SportsHatch.

1984 Ford Escort Estate Mk3 (Company Car) - Rubbish

1990 Ford Escort Mk4 (Company Car) - Rubbish

1973 Triumph 2.5Pi Auto - Disappointed with this one. Drove like a barge, and about as quick.

1988 Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 (Company Car) - Dull

1979 Chrysler Sunbeam - A nice basic small runaround, even when the wheel fell off!

1982 VW Jetta - worthy but dull.

1988 Ford Sierra Sapphire - I liked this car, but had to go as no power steering.

1990 Toyota Camry Estate Auto - Another favourite. Turned corners like a CV2.

1992 Rover 218D - this was purely for economy. Always liked the look of these though.

1992 Toyota Carina Auto - A good car, if a bit dull. Very economical for a large car with an auto.

1999 Peugeot 406 Estate Auto - a nice car with a crap gearbox.

2003 Vauxhall Signum Auto - looked nice from the side and rear, but dull from the front and inside. Never found a comfortable driving position.

2000 Lexus LS400 - fast, quiet, comfortable, but missing something...

2001 Lexus LS430 - fast, quiet, comfortable and has everything. If only they made an estate version, it would be perfect! :D

Oops! I forgot two cars.

1981 Volvo 340 with the rubber band auto - a rubbish car in every respect. The heater was on constantly, made for very hot journeys in the summer!

1990 Toyota Supra Turbo Auto - how could I forget this one! Brilliant car, but couldn't afford to run it. If I could just justify a 4.3L saloon and a 3L Turbo Coupe..... :shifty:

Well blow me down my Volvo 340 was an amazing car in all respects except that it had been designed for power steering and it was never fitted as standard so was VERY heavy...

About the tears in your eyes Bazgtr, (why?) Mine was a Laurel I think, not the Z280. Black sleek and still very fast with the fake Mercedes in line 6. and oh so comfortable.

Did anyone have a Mazda Q otherwise known as a Maxima? phoar!!! I still see a few around, originally chipped as racing cars with nothing of any weight inside and rock hard seats!!

I had a 340 in auto once. Had to laugh and smile when engaging the auto box as a huge red light would buzz and flash. It was a bit like the starship enterprise going to red alert. best thing was the heater, Two corners from start up and windscreen clear on a frosty morning.

That's easy, Nissan garage and haven't worked on them for years. I just binned a load of parts from them as no longer demand for them. It was a tear in my eye in a nice way. Had a bluebird last week for a servcie with just 33,000miles from new and garaged. Old fella's car from new. Now what a classic car for shows.

1984 seat ibiza 1.5 GLXi no power steering crap gearbox (take off passengers knees for 1st gear) got rid before i even passed my test.

1992 Hyundai pony x2 1.5 GSi best car for hand brake turning i've ever owned.

1989 Nissan micra 1.0 GSX 120mph 4-up......young people will go fast whatever they have.....Sold this to my sister who somehow managed to get it on 2 wheels while doign a driving lesson :shutit:

1995 Ford Mondeo 2.0 GLX auto 30mph kickdown was fun. 18 years old(and i'm very baby faced) and pulled over 15 times in a week "is this your car?" "yes, it's still my car ask your mate who pulled me over 20 mins ago"....written off after 18 months.

1989 Ford Orion 1.6 Ghia Knackered suspension made for a ship like ride and a noisey exhaust when 5 up...cheap car while waiting to be prosacuted for previous accident.

1989 Ford Escort 1.3 bonus 4-speed fitted with such luxuries as windows and doors, bought as cheap to insure car (this was 64k and mint compared to Orions 137k and knackered), got quoted £1800 TPFT

1996 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Si Saloon ex-police car, this was a fun car to learn how not to modifiy cars...this got bought 3 months after thje escort as it turned out insurance was so much for anything it was only another £200 to insure a much faster mondeo that was safe then the escort which was a death trap. Oh and i got this on barry boys once.... http://www.barryboys.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4825

jlmondys22sotw.jpg

jlmondys22sotwb.jpg

owned this for 18 months before the tin worm put paid to it.

1995 Ford Mondeo V6 ghia, blown HG was going to fix up then found insurance was too much.

1995 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Ghia bought this for £160 for the engine and toys to put in my saloon.

1989 Ford Sierra 2.0 GLSi got this after father in law crashed it into back fo vectra fixed it up for £50 then used it for 3 months till the MOT ran out and i scrapped it.

1994 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Si Hatchback This got the good mods from the saloon (suspension, sound system, RS bodykit, a new set of 17" alloys) and had a dam site less miles, still going so far as i know.

1989 Ford Sierra 2.9i Xr4x4 £250 shed to see if i liked the engine and drivetrain combo, discovered even in a knackered one it outclases the 4-pot Sierras for ride and handling.

1990 Ford Sierra 2.9i Xr4x4 £500 minter that i got as a good bargain off the XROC, goit reversed into by a bus at work 5 months later got £750 insurance pay-out which i used £75 to fix it then sold it last year for £1000, most profitable car i've ever owned :) Had a tonne of mods just needed a 24v engine and she'd of been good to go racing.

sierra_goodbye.jpg

1993 Fiat panda 1.0 Fizz cheap car to run to work instead of 2.9 sierra....and i learned why you should never buy an italian car....

1994 Ford Fiesta 1.1 popular. another cheap carto run to work, cosat me £90 sold for £100 a few months later, ran for weeks with no water in system.....can't kill old fords...

1993 Nissan micra 1.0L ex-driving school car with slipping clutch, cost me £100 had fun driving in car parks from passenger seat and confusing everyone  again cheap car to go to work.

1990 Mitsubishi GTO 3.0 Twin Turbo....Awesome car very intense stupidly fast.......don't buy one.....Sold it and a month later gearbox and clutch went £3500!!!!!

Front_Left_on_drive.jpg

1997 Volvo 850 2.5 SE Sensible family car...now wifes

1996 Volvo 850 2.5 GLT TDi More sensible as it's a diesel

1995 Lexus LS 400 mk3 sensible family car......that'll do 155mph & doughnuts.......

Not sure of years :-

Austin 1100 (steering wheel like a routemaster - lol)

Ford Capri 1600 GTR Mk1

Ford Capri 1600 GT Mk1 Auto

Ford Capri 3000 Ghia

(Was going through my Delboy stage - well I was young - lol)

Rover 3.5 SDI SE Auto

Mini 1275 built for racing but road legal. (No good on long journeys as too noisey & uncomfortable)

Rover 800 (worst car I ever had - grief city model - lol)

Subaru Legacy 4 cam turbo - bestest fun car - loads of power & grip in wet or dry.

Alpha 156 2 litre sports pack

Lexus IS 200 - love it - had since Jan 08 - would definetly get another one.

C reg Fiat Panda 750 - Basically a moped engine wrapped in a steel box - and 2 hammocks from poundland shoved in as seats - but very cheap to run/insure as my first car and didnt have to worry about locking it or where I left it. Sold as scrap for £50

G reg Vauxhall Astra 1.4 - Had a soft spot for these - Loved the car - but could have done with a little more ummph - Cambelt snapped - never the same again

H reg Cavalier 1.6 - Confortable sales rep car - Covered miles and miles in it - Never cost me a penny other than the MOT fee and Road Tax - But with no power steering was a nightmare to park - felt like a sherman tank

R reg Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 CDX Estate - Cant fault this car in any way - Much better than any equivalent cars at the time and my first car with quite a few toys in it.

1995 LS400 - Bought on impulse as I saw it after driving past a garage - 72K miles on the clock - Mint condition - Full Lexus service history - This car had been looked after big time with no expense spared - Original owner had purchased the optional floormats at £800 you could lose children in them! - Most services were £800 plus with some at £1200 - I wrote off in 2006 after hitting diesel spillage on a corner - Ended up on opposite side of dual carriageway after taking out large roadsign (ripped the post out the ground entirely) and going over the raised central reservation. Hardly marked the car - but serious damage underneath. Insurance company gave me enough money to have replaced with a 200K White K reg LS400 that had been used as a Taxi with no service history and interior like a dog had been living in it for 3 years - I started saving up again ....Arghhhh!!!!

Y reg Mondeo 2.0 auto - Hated every day of driving it - But stop gap until I got my next Lexus

2000 GS430 - Still got and loving it - especially now no vibrations ;o)
