Does Snow Button Increase Fuel Consumption?

Recommended Posts

YES, it does.

There have been loads of topics on this.

It limits the torque output and feeds it in more gently, so as to gain traction on snow, or wet grass etc.

A side effect of this is a slight increase in MPG, I believe many members, like i do, use it for long distance motorway cruising.

so how about using the snow mode in a mixed driving environment then? I currently do roughly 40miles per day motorway and about 10 city so how would it fare like that?

Everyone's driving style is different, why not try it and see ? I would have thought that as long as you don't compensate for the reduced throttle response by flooring it all the time, you should increase fuel economy a bit.

I'd love to try it mate but I aint got the car on the road yet unfortunatly. Having a bit of difficulty finding parts but as soon as I get hold of all required parts then it'll be going to the bodyshop to be repaired.

I played with the TRC and snow button off road at Santa pod this last weekend which was VERY wet and muddy. Trc stops you in your tracks on soaking wet grass/mud and the back end makes a lot of noise and the snow button did help with traction but only a little bit. It is really all down to "right Foot" control :whistling:

i did a long trip last weekend. from manchester to london i used the snow button when i was in traffic and round the city but not on the motory way. i used just under half a tank of petrol.

on the way back london to manchester i didnt use the snow button at all and burnt just over half a tank of petrol.

so in my case using the snow button round town/city and in traffic doe help with MPG.
