Hi,

not been on here long time now, due to the new arrival !

Little Baby boy, 5pounds 10 ! 4 days old now,

but a bit peed of with NHS,

local surgery refused to make an appointment for him yesterday when he was 3 days old, after a rash appeared on his body, even the midwife who was visiting at the time spoke to them and gave her concerns but still no appointmnent, all becuase he was not registered, well that would be the case 3 days after being born,

spoke to another midwife today who said there should have made an appointment under my wifes name, and this happened last time with our other son.

we ended up having to go the hospital couple miles away and waited 3 hurs to see a doctor !

really peed off, and have contacted solicitors to get some advice, you could class this as medical negligence,

what do you think?

So happy with the new baby and 2 weeks of work as well due to partinity !

congratulations :)

as much as we all think the NHS is bad , in reality it is superb, remember you will be feeling very emotional and protective towards your new baby, the surgery's, midwife's, doctors and nurses see them day in day out, if they were concerned or thought any thing was untoward, i am 100% sure that your baby would have received the best attention possible, immediately

what was the problem, obviously not that life threatening or I am sure you wouldn't have waited 3 hours, nor would they have let you wait 3 hours

the quickest way to get medical attention is to ring an ambulance, if your midwife had any major concern she would have rung them

so stop worrying and having gripes with the NHS and go and enjoy your new baby :D

why the solicitor.

surely a letter of complaint would suffice

You are lucky to live in a country with NHS

Most other countries you would be paying for treatment. As Bazza says had it been "urgent or life threatening" you would have been dealt with sooner.

Letters to solicitors and complaints only add pressure to the NHS and cost money.

Enjoy the new addition to your family and be thankful that the emergency services are only a free phonecall away when you need them most.

Obviously the baby is fine (I am glad) so it was not an emergency. Iv'e been stuck in traffic jams for more than 3 hours so it really is not a big deal.

Congratulations! All the best mate.

Btw, what's partinity?

same as matinity, but for men and you don't get paid as much (£117 a week i think, i've got it coming up sometime in next 6 weeks :) )

Oh, I thought it was an additional benefit over and above paternity leave. My bad.
