Lighter Socket Jump Leads?

just got a flat Battery now and couldnt start my IS220d, so going to be waiting for the AA to come, but was wonder if those lighter socket jump leads any good to use? or can they damage the electronic in the car? or better to use a proper booster?

Not sure if there recomended for starting diesels matey, as they need quite a few cranking amps to start and heat the glow plugs? so might be better with one of the Battery pack type starters?

They can work, but you can blow fuses etc with these too. They cause a power spike...

I'd avoid it - or use it on very basic old cars

A good quality charge station is best....

I've always been dubious of these things. Seems like too much current for a cig lighter socket?

Best of with a better quality jump pack. Or my personal favourite......a decent set of leads and another car!

Thank guys, AA came and got it started and its running fine now, but i will get one of those charge station just in case.

Question I would be asking is why my car lost charge? Did the AA shed any light on the reason as your car is far too new to be suffering from this...or have you been camping (and running off the 12V supply)?

I hasnt been driving the car for a month, think the Battery just went flat, my own fault, should had take it out every so often, but it just been sitting in the garage the last month or so as i been busy at work.... ;) ;) ;)
