Tyre Sizing?

if it says 7J then that is the rim width in inches :D

Standard IS200 wheels are as follows

PCD = 114.3mm Offset = 45mm

Standard Rim f/r = 17"x7"

Standard Tyre f/r = 215/45-17

If your rims are 17"x7" then the 215/45x17 is what you should really fit....

how do know what tyres to buy for my wheels. i originally brought 17" alloys and the tyre size was 225/50/17, they look awkwardly big i reckon now so i want some low profiles. how do i pick the size?

The way it works is like this

225/45/17

225 is the width of the tyre

45 is the height of the tyre expressed as a percentage of the width (45% of 225mm)

17 is the rim size

If you go for low profiles and your car isn't lowered it may make the arches seem empty. If you go for 35 profiles then your tyre height will be 79mm ish compared to 112.5mm that it is now. So you will gain about an inch and 1/2 gap between tyre and arches
