Is it possible to start your car then use the spare to lock it whilst engine running ?

Not by remote, but by key yes. You have to lock the rest of the doors though as the key will only lock the drivers i believe.

I had to laugh as I left the house this morning, my neighbour had got an extension lead from his house and an electric fan heater. He put the fan heater in the car, shut the door and left it running to de-ice has car.

That's kind of what we do in Sweden. Most cars sold here are factory fitted with block/compartment heaters.

Plug in the front bumper

Connect to an outlet, usually found at home and at work. You can select what time you want the block heater to start.

Inside the car you get a 230V outlet
