Hi my first post on here so please be gentle :crybaby:

I am considering changing from my BMW 118d SE dynamic  pic for those interested below to a FL IS 22od SE i.

BMWSide08.jpg

We need the extra space as currrently I pretty much just drive the 1er to work and my other half drives the Caddillac BLS diesel on the school run and at weekends as more space for baby stuff baby and a 5 year old and any shopping. Found the 1er tight on space when we drove to France in the summer good on economy 56mpg average.

Anyway back on topic few 220d questions......

Has the engine been updated as I see it has 3rd Gen 1800 Piezo injectors and an extra 2Bhp to 177?

Have the gearbox ratios been improved as heard 6th was too long and the engine struggled slightly at 70mph?

What is the handling like, looked at one a couple of years back but never drove it and has the handling improved on the FL version and in what way?

What are the interior revisions?

Finally relaibility and mpg?

Questions questions.........

Thanks in advance

Best thing to do is do a search on the IS220d. There's plenty of stuff on here about it. Good and bad. The best advice I could offer is take advantage of the 48hr test drives being offered and use it as you would if it were yours and that includes loading it up for the family trip abroad as the space isn't brilliant. Also check out the dealership, some have been found wanting big time. Good luck.

I think the engine power is the same, it always had 177 bhp. The gearbox ratios are also the same so Im assuming 6th gear is still unusable. They've removed the Sport version (shorter ratios) so now there isn't even an option to correct this. Interior revisions are very minor, check the link at the top of this page ("NEW 2009 LEXUS IS RANGE") for details. I think for the other questions is a bit too soon to say, I believe no one in this forum has bought a FL 220D model yet.
