Hi,

I have a 'v' plate 1999 IS200, and the stereo cd is knackered....the infaous 'error 3'......(6 cd's stuck in stereo!).

Does anyone have a stereo in working order they want to get rid of? Or can anyone advise on how/where to repair. I got a quote from lexus of approx 300 quid to repair! Waaay to much!

Thanks

Ali

if you don't get any luck in finding a working OE Head Unit,

(you need another with the same model number by the cassette slot 13901-13906)

you will need.......

1. Autoleads Facia FP-25-00 (detailed in my ICE thread)

2. Bypass lead from eBay

3. Sat-Nav Module from Fargo

4. new aftermarket Head Unit (Single or Double DIN)

The cheapest place to get 1 & 2 on the list is via E-Bay Item number: 280279207178.

Fargo's box of tricks allows you to keep the Sat-Nav working with your new Head Unit (link above)

Don't spend any money on a repair, since it'll probably just go wrong again at some point. Some members seem to have had some luck in taking apart their head units and clearing the error, but I don't know a lot about that.

Similarly I wouldn't spend much on buying a working replacement unit, since there's no guarantee that will stay working for long.

If you're going to spend some money, it's probably more worthwhile doing so on a new head unit.

I know it's not very elegant, but you could always download your "stolen" CD to an MP3 player and play back through one of those tape thingies you can plug into your cassette player.
