Just wanted to find out if anyone out there has tried NNL690 lubrication in the engine (or even NNL690G in Transmission).

As I am looking at selling Oil Filtration (mainly benefits Diesels - stops them becoming Oil burners) I have found out through various USA sites that using filtration with NNL690 (also know as Power Up) can increase fuel efficiency by up to 11%.

So I had a drop of Power Up put in the old 4 litre beast, and the one thing that is for certain is that the engine takes longer to warm up from cold start. That tells me that the head to cylinder friction has dropped becuase less friction mean less heat. I would say that I am getting a bit more MPG, I would guess 5%, and been doing more cold start and short runs than I was doing earlier this year.

Anyway wondered if anyone else had tried a 5% mix of this stuff to see what it did.

Also having read about Slick 50 made me realise that there are some real dangerous products out there, where as NNL690 has been approved for use by US Military and NATO so that gave me the confidence to try.

Not gone as far as trying it transission system(nnl690G), given that I have read you have to be very specific with ATF.

I personally would steer clear on any additives altogether. Engine oil manufacturers spend vast amounts on research and development to make sure their engine oil is up to the job. I would instead spend the money on good quality fully synthetic oil and more regular oil changes. If your car can take it use a multigrade oil which is 5W or even 0W to make sure the engine oil circulates quicker on cold start ups.

Hi whats the problem with slick 50 i have a bottle I was going to use on my next service ta Mark

Mark

Slick50 advertised that they ran a briggs and stratton engine on just engine oil and also one on slick50 and engine oil, then drained both and ran them, they stated that the one with slick50 ran for 100's of hours without problems whilst the normal one siezed up very quickly.....

Well briggs and stratton didn't think that was right so they tried it themselves and found exactly the opposite, they repeatedly tried it and the one with the slick50 siezed virtually instantly compared to the one with just oil that ran for a considerable time....

There conclusion was that slick50 has too many detergents and other additives in it that wash the oil coating off parts to clean them but the ptfe is not able to stay on the parts for any length of time....

If I were you I'd throw it away or take it back if you have the reciept....

Slick 50 is a ptfe based lubricant it can have detrimental effects on engines and cause more damage than running with cheap oil and i quote

DuPont Chemical Corporation, inventor of PTFE and holder of the patents and trademarks for Teflon. In a statement issued about ten years ago, DuPont's Fluoropolymers Division Product Specialist, J.F. Imbalzano said, "Teflon is not useful as an ingredient in oil additives or oils used for internal combustion engines."

there are long discourses and diatribes about it its interesting

Regular oil changes are better than additives and cheaper ;)
