The Crail Thrash takes place regularly throughout the year, twice monthly on Sundays. As Scotland's 1/4 mile Drag Strip, it has become hugely popular, primarily because anyone can learn how to do it. All you require is a UK driving licence, a vehicle, and that's it.

We have a new state of the art system, with full Christmas Trees (countdown start lights), computer and staging gear specially imported from USA from drag timing specialists Portatree (www.portatree.com), which is directly connected to the website using Channel 6 Multimedia's (www.ch-6.co.uk) online results system.

It's easy! Learn how to do it when you sign on at the start office. Like thousands of regular visitors, once you've tried it you'll be hooked.

Other activities include a static show area, for exhibiting your pride and joy, as well as incredible ICE (In Car Entertainment) installs, unbelievable engine and body mods, club and trade stands.

Try your hand at the quad bike course or even the Drifting Ring, where you can learn the art of drifting your car round our specially prepared skid pan.

Starting four years ago this extremely popular event has grown from strength to strength and is covered by many of the top selling car mags - FAST CAR, MAX POWER, REDLINE, STREETFIGHTERS - with a whole host of new publictions coming on board this season.

Track Days take place on Saturday's once a month.

Take your car round our specially built circuit, designed to help you explore your vehicle's handling and speed. With tight corners, long straights and fast sweeping bends, you can push your car to the limit and don't worry, if you get it wrong, there are no Armco barriers to hit, no gravel traps, just acres of lovely tarmac.

Qualified instructors are available at extra cost. We ask that you please book in advance to get maximum track time as numbers are limited. If a club or organisation wants to use this facility it can be hired through the week or on evenings in summer months, although we require a minimum of ten drivers for a private session.

Sprints take place several times a year and are organised by Motor Sports Association (MSA) recognised clubs for competition licence holders only.

To apply for a competition licence, contact the MSA (www.msauk.org)

Sprinting is probably the cheapest way into competitive motorsport, with the added advantage of being able to use your own car with very little mods.

I have never attended any of the Crail Thrash meets - partly because I'm not interested in sprinting, but partly becuase most of this sort of event seem to attract the Max Muppets. :( No offence.

However we have hired the track on an exclusive basis a few times now, and we will be there 8th June. We have a very restricted amount of cars on track. Basically the circuit used is a little under 1 mile, and we have 2 or 3 cars out most of the time - all spaced so you have a LOT of space!

Usual cost is £40 for a full day, unlimited access including instructor.

I would recomend that if Team Lexus want to use Crail - they speak with Willy and get exclusive hire - you only need 10-15 people.

Mail me if you want to know more.

Sam
