Speaker Covers

Hiya Guys, my mate has a limited edition IS and his front speaker covers are silver, (i think there silver on some other models too) but mine are black. are they easy to swap, (gonna steal his keys). cus if they are i might start browsing the breakers.

You can change the whole door card to get those. That's probably easier than just trying to change the speaker grille.

As stevie says it's probably easier to replace (and get hold of in the first place) the whole door cards.

They've been chrome from '51' plate onwards, so it shouldn't be too hard to get some, but if you get one from post '04' then it'll be leather as well :)

I've searched for these for a while now, but most breakers wont sell just the front door cards? Seen some on eBay over the past few months but always at the wrong time for me to buy :( They do look a lot better than the old black ones :)

'51' plate was the switchover point, so it's possible your car was the older version - I'm guessing you have the two tone dash as well?

Mine is on a 'Y' with 2 tone dash, but had the older plain black grills until I swapped out the interior for a

later full leather one with the later (chrome cover) door cards.

the area around the side air vents and along the beam (passenger side) under the airbag is gold, as is

the sides around the dash tray and sides of the CD player all the way down to the centre console.

Lol no worries, as wozza says the centre part of the dash is a goldy colour (similar to the colour of the L in the middle of the steering wheel) whereas on the later cars it's all black.

Those original speaker covers would have been fine if they were just black circles, what the hell is that bar that runs through the middle of it?

I presumed (so could be wrong) that it was some sort of reinforcement seeing as it's down at foot (kicking) level ?

do think the later speaker covers look more like they belong in the lexus, always thought the black ones looked a bit naff with that bar across it :D :D

nopes, no chrome, just all black mesh, but no bar
