I believe the IS200 was spawned from the ALTEEZA ...they used to use them for racing in japan....the alteeza has a yamaha beams 4pot engine with more than 200bhp...they deamed that the luxury market in europe america etc didnt want a 4 pot so they used the 2.0 and 3.0 litre 6pot engines instead.....

You can get the Altezza AS200 in Japan which features the same 1G-FE engine as used in the IS200, just tuned to slightly more BHP due to the different market out there, fuel, emissions etc etc.

The RS200 does go like stink though, I had a few runs in Zee's and really liked that, lovely engine note when it was been ragged!

The IS and Altezza share the same chassis because it's the same car, just different trim and engine specifications. I think the original post was more about completely different models with different bodyshells that share the same chassis (e.g. VW Golf, Seat Leon), and AFAIK there is nothing.

Can't imagine any of the Toyota range (Avensis etc.) have much in common because they're all FWD.

yup i said it in the post above yours................

the is200,300, altezza and gita/sportcross are all the same chassis

the chassis (sxe, gce ) share components, mostly running gear with Toyota chasers (jzx) and the Toyota Mark X and verona
