After Fitting The Blueflame

hi there,

after fitting the blueflame i got a error today. error code p0420 which is something to do with the sensor in the catalytic. could anyone help me with this one

If could just the ECU reacting to the change in back pressure, i'd suggest resetting the ECU, by removing the ETCS and EFI fuses (in the engine bay fuse box) for 30 seconds.

Then just seeing if it stays off,

Could this be caused by the post cat sensor not being re-attached after the exhaust was fitted? Just a thought.

not a bad shout, worth checking before you reset the ECU that both sensors are connected to the manifold.

See this diagram

There are two sensors on the manifold, but the more important one here is probably the post-cat one that edeath mentioned, around the middle right-hand-side of the diagram.

The fault said bank one, so am thinking that is the higher of the two sensors,

check them both anyway, then re-set the ECU.

Yeah but according to this page of the manual, the ECU compares the output from the sensor before the cat to the output of the sensor after the cat, and throws up this code if there's a problem. So it could be either of the sensors, and it the post-cat sensor was taken out to swap the exhaust it seems the more likely culprit.

On the inside of the fuse box cover (in the engine bay) there's a diagram showing which is which.

hi i had the same code after fitting my janspeed system.the reason fr my code was that the joint between the cat and my new system was leaking,so i fixed the joint and it has been fine since.hope this help.

the engine light is back again today. i will check joints and see if they leaking or should i do something else before that

Yeah make sure that it's not leaking. Also, the sensor right under the car, behind the main cat, looked ok ? I guess it's possible it was somehow damaged when the exhaust was changed.

right i will take it to the garage and see if theres any leaking and if these not then i will just need to take to lexus and see what they say

no leaks in the exhaust so its the sensor..i was wondering is it a 3/4 wire sensor
