Number Plate Bulb

Hi,

Does anybody know what type of bulb fitment the Number plate bulb is, as im thinking of changing it to a LED bulb.

Some of the LEDs are very dim when used for this sort of thing though, there was a previous thread on this subject, I will try and find it.

yea, i saw some on a is250, they do look "mint" at night.

I tried to buy the ones on the IS250....

but they are actually panels rather than bulbs, and cost nearly £40 each :tsktsk: :o

well i recieved the bulbs a couple of days ago.

but does anybody know how to take the glass surround away from the bulb holder?

It's a right pain ! You have to access it from inside the bootlid. You need to undo a few bolts from inside once you've partially taken off the inside covering of the bootlid. I'm sure there's a walkthrough on the forums somewhere, I'll try and find it.

ok i've received the bulbs today and im not very impressed, they are much darker that oem bulbs. heres the photos:

looking at the two i see what your saying :)

i changed mine for some philips blue vision side light bulbs ( non LED )and they are brighter than standard so i cant help on the best LED bulb to get

My LEDs are less bright than the OEM bulbs for the number plate too. But I still prefer having the LEDs in. I would perhaps be tempted to try something even brighter, except for the hassle factor of getting it all apart again !

I love the LED look, the light is totally different with a much Whiter look, my LED's have 6 in a cluster.

They match my reversing lights (white LED tower type) perfectly.

Also (not talking about breaking the law here) but why do you want your number plate brighter

than the LED pic above ? Looks very nice IMO.

The photo will be exaggerating the brightness though, I imagine it looks dimmer than that in reality.

Iv got LED in mine is more suttle, plus other cars headlights, light them up anyway

I think the LED's look a lot cleaner than the standard bulbs due to the crisper light they give out B)
