Exhaust Manifold!

Hey guys, Im in the process of changing my manifold for one that has had the PreCats removed. Im a bit stuck as ive unbolted the one in the car but cant get it past the steering colum join......

Before losing patients and just cutting the bottom flange in half and removing it in 2 halfs! Is there a way to get the manifold out as a whole???

You have to undo the steering coloumn mate, just the one bolt and pull the splined bar out.

Mark it up before you do though mate.

ok mate will do, so guessing that involves taking the steering wheel, and colum off to remove the bar??

no, I'm sure you can disconnect it in the engine bay where the uper part meets lower.

As Stav says, mark it though or the steering wheel will be wonky afterward.

unbolt the universal joint, mark everything as there is no master spline and tap the UJ out of the way to seperate the 2 parts of the steering shaft and thats it. no need to touch the steering wheel at all!!!

ok ive disconnected the two bolts on the UJ, one on the spline'd shaft and the other below!

Tried tapping it up (towards the car) but it wont budge?? Can i be crude and use a bigger hammer? or am i doing something wrong??

there is a split in the UJ open it up a little with a flat screwdriver and give it a spray of release oil or wd40 etc

Sorry to bring up an old topic but I've tried the above but i still cant get it to split. I'm starting to loose my patience because the exhaust is the last thing i need to put in and its just not happening for me :( any other suggestions?

thats the only way bro undo the bolts and hit it up towards the bulkhead might take some good blows to start it off
