Looking To Learn How To Weld

i'm wanting to add welding to my vast array of skills lol.

What advice can you welders out there give me (MIG/TIG/ARC, methods etc) only looking to do basic stuff.

I wouldnt bother learning arc welding just for basic stuff, its quite easy when you get the hang of it, but it can be a bit heavy, i didnt know you could still buy them now ?

mig welding is easy enough, never tried tig but im told its very similar to mig.

john.. i laugh in the face of steady hands,, who pioneered soldering them frigging small blue leds on the stereo etc.

buy the biggest mig that you can plug into a 13a socket, otherwise you are limited where you can use it

then practice

then practice more

the idea in principle is simple enough and there are lots of reading material available, but it takes a while to be able to get all your settings right and produce good results

as john said arc is a bit archaic, mig is the best and easiest starting point, when you have mastered mig, move on up to tig
