Do You Need To Change

Hi i read some where if you change the timing belt you need to change the coolant.... What i WANT to know can it be done without changing the coolant... My car was in 8 months ago and i got it one by my local garage but I dont think he changed the coolant.... Thanks

i wouldnt of thought you'd have to change the coolant unless you have to take either the radiator off, or the pump and only then as it would of needed draining, i've not had to do this but it sounds logical enough

it can be done apparently, by holding the rad up out of the way.

The standard procedure in the manual involves draining the coolant, so I imagine that's what most garages would do. Can you not ask the garage what they did exactly, or has the guy who did it left ?

You dont need to even touch the radiator. So no the coolant doesnt need to be changed.

Mine was changed without rad being touched.
