Guy's,

Would really vlue your advice on this one. Having looked and been directed to various topics on springs (thanks) and having inherited the broken spring problem on my GS300 Sport (1996). I am looking to find out:

(1) What are the most cost-effective springs to replace with (in your opinions)

(2) Info on changing the springs myself - Are there any 'how to' posts for the 300?

(3) Who are the best source for springs?

I have found some on fleaBay > http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=tab%3DWatching

but these are 35mm drop and I do not want to go lower than 25mm (factory standard)

Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated! :winky:

Phil

I fitted a set of Eibachs to mine. I bought them from a place in Birmingham. Cant for the life of me remember what it was called but Edison was in the name They are listed for the American Spec MK1 GS but are exactly the same. I think they cost approx £160 for the full set.

Fitting is quite straight forward if you are handy with a set of spanners. The only specialist tool you need is a spring compressor.

That is a great price for the springs in that eBay listing. I fitted a set of RS*R Super Downs to mine which I got from Envy Performance. They were £250 I think so not cheap and the delivery time was quite high due to them coming over from Japan. As Randy says, pretty straight forward to fit. It will help a lot if you get both sides of the car off the ground, it will help prevent the anti-roll bars from being in tension and making life more awkward. I didn't document anything, but feel free to ask whatever you need.

Hi guys new to this forum but after the same thing, My 98 gs300 has a set of lowering springs on at moment and I want to go back to normal height as theres a lot of spped bumps near me and it does catch on a few, therefore can you suggest anywhere that does some oem type springs.

To be fair Lexus I think are the only people who would sell the standard sized springs - I'm guessing yours is a MK2 looking at the year?

It's a shame as I've just taken the suspension off mine but one of the springs has snapped and so it's no good as I've only got the three springs.

Your best bet may be to see if anyone on here fancies swapping with you, you could then both pop to a garage like Charlesworth where they could get the cars on a ramp each, drop the legs off and then swap suspension towers across between the two cars?

If that's not an option then you're looking at either Lexus or if they're stupidly expensive daft as it sounds coilovers as they have adjustable height so you could take it higher than what you are now?

Welcome to LOC by the way :)

Actually I've just though, drop a guy called Anees a PM as he has a set of suspension with standard springs that has come off his Aristo (same chassis as yours just the Jap import version) - may be worth seeing what he's after for that?

I'm assuming the Aristo isn't lowered over the GS anyway?
