Will Rx 18" X 7" Rims Fit An Is200?

Hi all,

I've seen a set of RX alloys that I'd like to fit to my IS, only before I commit I want to be absolutely sure they'll fit as I also need to fork out for tyres after I've picked them up.

They are 18" diameter, 7" wide. PCD is correct as they're from a Lex, but it's the offset I'm concerned about - apparently it's ET35. I've actually seen the wheels and I'm annoyed with myself for not checking inside the rim for the size, can anyone confirm the offset?

Hopefully there's a pic attached to this post so you can see the wheel style.

RX on IS

Any help gratefully received as always!

Thanks,

Adam

P.S. Correct tyre size would be 225/40 x 18 right? Or 215/40?

from what i've learnt myselfg recently, the offset should ideally be 40-45. but people have fitted 18 inch ET35 wheels. they do stick out a bit though mate and would really only know if its right for you by sticking one on the car????

or arch kit if ur a bit concerned with it??

thinking about it mate, you *might* be alright as the rims are 7j not 8 like some of the other pics i've seen, so shouldn't stick out as much if my way of thinking is correct.

can you not stick one on quickly??? won't dirty or mark the wheels in any way and if they fit ok then ur onto a winner mate!!

they would look mint as well on ur IS!!!

Well the existing rims are 6.5" (205/55R16), so we're talking half an inch wider. I can't stand the look on some motors when the wheels just don't look "right". It has to look like it could have come with them on it as standard if you know what I mean!

After much investigation I've just found this:

Wheel Bible

Chucked in the wheel details and it states that a 225 on a 35 offset is 20mm further out but 0mm closer to the suspension. 215 on a 35mm offset bizarrely is 5mm closer to the suspension and 15mm further out from the body.

I'm unable to try one on the car as they aren't with me at the moment.

And yeah, I think they would look sweet on my car! Was very impressed when I saw them yesterday.

even if they were 8" wide and a et35 they dont stick out that far!

see pic above et35 18" by 8" wide!

tyre size 215 40 18

no fancy arches and no rubbing with a drop of 40mm

Thats cause the tyres are stretched a bit, 215 is meant to fit on 7" tyres.

Its not dangerously stretched or anything, just helps them fit.

good good the wheels in the above pic will be fitted to my is200 the morn!!cant wait!!

oh finally priced up tyres 215 40 18 for 37.45 +vat same tread pat as the good year eagle f1's

oh can anyone shed light on how much standard is wheels go for?? some tiny spots of corrosion on the polished part but not too noticable unless your close up front tyres are on 5mm rear on 4mm??

rough price on how much too sell for?

Excellent... Thanks to all who've posted. I knew I'd get the answer on here.

So the conclusion is that 215/40R18's 7J on wheels with a offset of 35 will happily go on an IS200?

Sweet. :D

Ormi, where are you getting those tyres from if you don't mind me asking? Internet order or local tyre specialist/chain? Be good to hear from you tomorrow once you've driven the car with those rims on, just to be doubly sure there's no rubbing.

Nice motor Stav, RX-8 wheels really suit it.

What make are they? as thats very cheap, and its not just the tread pattern, its the make-up of the rubber as well thats important.

And i think i sold my wheels for £170 with reasonable tyres (same as yours)

OK, so I've looked into tyres. Apparently the 215/40 R18 isn't a common size, so the cheapest I can get for a set of 4 fitted including VAT is £345.00 (Falken).

If I go for 225/40 R18 I can get a set fitted including VAT for £276.00 (Nexen).

Have no experience of either tyre, anyone got these on their car at the moment? Are they any good?

Used to have Toyo Proxes T1-S on my Cupra and they were superb... (T1-R's are £390 in a 225/40 R18)

hi there, just a note to say i was really happy with the combo i had on my lex, yes they do stick out further but with the 225 tyres just make it look a little more agressive. unfortunately i sold mine (bloody taxman) before i took any photos of them on my car otherwise i would post them. but id say go for it with the 225/40r18 is same as i had with no probs at all. ran them for a good few miles (3-4k) and didnt notice any inside edge wear either, something i never did get sorted before i sold lula the lex!the tyres i had on mine were vredstien ultrac (altissimo????- notsure cant remeber that bit)

i'll reply to your pm anyway but just in case ya dont get this hope it helps mate.
