Retrofitting A Series 4 Ls400 Satnav To Series 3

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever done this? Any reason why it wouldnt work?

My dad really wants integrated satnav but cant justify getting a series 4 just for that one option.

Have searched LOC but not found any evidence about whether this is or isnt possible :(

I would imagine that if the retro fit ''was possible'' it would be many times more expensive than changing the car to a Mk4. The last of the Mk4 SatNav were Cd based, is now 9 years old, and technology has moved on.

Cancel this idea, upgrade car to LS430 (DVD Sat Nav) or buy the latest TomTom, Garmin, etc.

Thanks for the advice.

However he already has one of the latest garmins and doesnt like the ls430.

So i guess he has the choice of giving retrofit a go if he can pick up a cheap system from a breakers or not bothering at all as i think its not worth him upgrading to a series 4 just for this one thing when his series 3 is a superb example.

thanks again :)

No way its much tooo complicated & would cost a fortune. The touch screens alone are thousands of pounds, As cb 1300 said it also controls the air con heating stereo + numerous outher functions,

Much better to buy a mark4 and be done with it, you will also get a 5 speed box a vvti engine, zenon lights, traction control, a snow mode & vehicle stabillity control,

Also they are going for buttons at the moment.

I am biased as I have a mark 4 ( but I can't think of a car I would want to replace it with unless someone offerd me a Aston Martin DB9 as a straight swop)

Can have my Ser 4 in Maroon, for £5K! :whistling:

Alas, the colour will put most people off. (You always were an iconoclast !)

Was that colour sponsored by " Ribeena"! :whistling:

Funny! Most folk who see it LOVE the colour! ANd I'm SURE there's a Jellybean in that colour (the iconoclast colour'?) I'm old enough to recall them being thrown at the Beatles-my old schoolmates!

Agree that it's the best LS, but then, I would?

Either take a look at the latest sat navs from Garmin/TomTom etc or change the vehicle. As has been said it would take 10's of hours labour + a donor vehicle. It just wouldn't be cost effective and after all that you end up with a sat nav which is over 10 years old, slow and lacking in features.

LS430 is the way to go.
