Gps Antenna

I'm working up to buying a "safety" camera warning device for my GS 450h. Ideally I'd like to mount it in the ash tray recess as there is power readily available there.

Thing is, the likelihood of a good GPS signal there is not high. Does anyone know if you can tap into the GPS antenna used by the in-car GPS without dismantling half the interior?

Was thinking of the cheapo Novos Piccolo they had on 5th Gear the other night. It's not a detector it's GPS based hence the question about the antenna.

My dad installed a cheap GPS based unit in his GX and bought a third party antenna so he could put the unit in a need position.

You're better off getting a separate antenna and putting that somewhere on the dash........think hacking into the OEM antenna would be hard work - is it in the boot?

Ive been using the Cheetah GPS Mirror for along time now with built in antenna free updates and the mirror is just brill well happy with it saved me loads of times and only £99 off eBay.

If I understand the diagram correctly is shows the assembly (3) then shows it in position in the car. I think it's under the front dash by the looks of it. Not a place I want to try get to lol
