I'm working up to buying a "safety" camera :whistling: warning device for my GS 450h. Ideally I'd like to mount it in the ash tray recess as there is power readily available there.

Thing is, the likelihood of a good GPS signal there is not high. Does anyone know if you can tap into the GPS antenna used by the in-car GPS without dismantling half the interior?

A lot of these would not work from the position you mention. Which type were you thinking to get?

Was thinking of the cheapo Novos Piccolo they had on 5th Gear the other night. It's not a detector it's GPS based hence the question about the antenna.

My dad installed a cheap GPS based unit in his GX and bought a third party antenna so he could put the unit in a need position.

Had a look on ToyoDIY but that shows it but no inkling of where it actually is in the car!

Wonder if it's under the rear parcel shelf like in the rest?

If I understand the diagram correctly is shows the assembly (3) then shows it in position in the car. I think it's under the front dash by the looks of it. Not a place I want to try get to lol
