Footwell Lights

Hi guys

I have just changed the courtesy light to a blue 9 LED fastoon (?) bulb and love the colour, and have also ordered some bulbs for the dash, thanks to all the help in this forum. I'm looking to get a couple of LED strips to put in the footwells and only want them to come on with the courtesy light. Has any one got a walk though on how to do this? I think it has something to do with the ignition light, so want to do this when I have the speedo out.

Also, what is the easiest way to change the A/C lights? I can't solder and wondered if there is another way to change them?

I think Wozza has some sort of walkthrough.

though basically you need to find the two wires that go to the bulb for the ignition ring and tap into them,

Soldering is very very easy. Just get yourself some wire, soldering iron, solder. Maplins sell basic kits for less than £20. Practice joining bits of wire together before you go any where near your car though!! There are loads of guides on the net!!

It was the 1st thing I learnt on my apprenticeship many years ago!!

so is it just as easy as tapping into the positive wire for the light on the ignition, and grounding the negative (not like in a naughty child kind of way)? Thanks

No, your best tapping into both sides, as a lot of the circuits in the IS have switched negatives.
