Removing Cd Autochanger From Boot

Recommended Posts

hi guys

when i recently went over a bump in my '91 ls400 recently the cd player gave an 'error' message.... it now doesnt play any cds at all. Im guessing its a loose connector (hopefully). I checked the radio end and everything looks good (and the cd player still errors). So im hoping its the autochanger end.... so my question

how do i remove it.... im probably being a bit dumb.... do i just pull the boot trim off to get to the screws to remove the autochanger?

Hi,

You need to remove the trim panel 1st there are 2 10mm screws inside the 1st aid cover/box and then 1 or 2 plastic clips towards the rear (one is to left upper left of the 1st aid box cover) the panel surrounding the changer is interlocked with the other adjacent trim so manoevere it out carefully taking car not to damage the fuel flap emergency release cord which is inside the 1st aid box cover.

There is also a metal side panel on the changer which is attached with velco so gently pull this off.

To remove the changer there is a large gold coloured bracket with 4 10mm screws holding it in remove these ( 2 top 2 bottom) and then disconnect the multiplugs ( I think there are 2 at the rear and one on the left hand side).

The actual changer is held on the bracket by normal philips screws.
