Car Audio Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hey,

So I went to my local car audio specalist and he recommended the Pyle PLTS78UBT for my car (IS 200), looks like it has the works.

Have a quote to get the job done for £400, which isn't bad at all. Wanted to know if anyone else has got this unit in and what their experiences are?

I'm a little miffed with how it's going to get done as the original unit looks like a double din unit, will ask the guy again and ask him to show me exactly what he intends to do!

Uzzi

Spend the extra and get a unit that is a decent brand IMO.

Although £400 fully fitted is a good price if it includes the extras needed to make it work in an IS200, especially if your car has sat-nav.

We discussed a JVC model which was a double din, so was a 7" screen on it's own. The two had great specs but one branded and the other not.

Can your recommend any ones that I should look for instead?

dont bother wasting your money on a pyle system as chances has it it'll end up a pile of crap, excuse the pun ;) the system is probably well most surely will be just a cheap chinese generic system like u can get on eBay cheap these days and wont have good sound quality or a decent user interface. I'd go for a JVC double din myself

i would really question any in car specialist recommending that!!

maybe a Beat unit as they arent bad for the money but thats shocking!!

There is a kenwood which is on offer and is a v good little unit or for a very well specced JVC (if you give them a call they will beat most web prices too)

add in a bypass lead and facia adaptor off eBay and all for under £400..

Thats the one I have, but I opted for the DAB tuner and HAL antenna extras that replaces the OEM roof mount one. Good unit.

In that price range its up against the kenwood dnx8220bt which is far better sq unit, better connectivity, 5v preouts, parrot Bluetooth built in, 5.1 surround, built 8in dsp.. i could go on!!

i guess it will come to preference--my brother has one and its really good --that clarion has 40gig hard drive to store navigation so the dvd drive is free

the kenwood's navigation is all hardware based, so it also has dvd capability while naviagting.. the only advantage of the clarion over the kenwood is the HD for ripping music but this means copying them all of cd's and then the navigation/fiel structure isntthat great.. much better using an ipod then you can do it all in the comfort of your own home and just plug it in when your ready!!

not sayinig its not good but clarion are nowhere near what they used to be.. kenwood is a very powerfull bit of kit and would say its the best on the market in this category.. and then on a a budget the jvc..

have a look and try one out before commiting to buy.. you may be swayed!!
