1991 Ls400 Cd Autochanger Not Working. Any Ideas Guys?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I bought a 1991 Lexus LS400 a few months ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. A supreme bargain of a car with lots of service history.

There are a few minor issues with the car. One is that the CD autochanger doesn't work. When you press the CD button the display shows an error. The CD holder/cartridge looks in good condition and each section opens normally.

Does anyone know what things I can check to try and get to the bottom of this?

Thanks very much,

Gordon

Hi Gordon its a common problem on early ls 400s as the cd changer is boot mounted it suffers from condensation, try a lens cleaning CD or leave the cd button mode on for 20 mins or so while driving as sometimes they come back to life by drying themselves out. If not its a used changer off eBay. my mate in Liverpool is on his 3rd changer in 10 years. good luck Mark
