Insurance Companies Confused

When I took my policy out with admril,

they asked me if

1 - my car was a lexus is200 SE

or

2 - is200 SE with Supercharger.

anyway, so at the time I didnt have a charger, and thought, id give the insurance a call to find out insurance groups.

so - I spoke to them

is200 is group 13 with them

but the same car is with a charger is group 13

but they wont insure my car becuase its not installed from the factory ?

Explain that they were add ons. they said no can do..

whos got a charger and who are you insured with ?

Not sure what group lexus is200 is in but im with Adrian Flux, they were £100's cheaper than directline (had no mods when i was with them) and i had been with directline for 2 yrs.

same with me, they undercut all the competitors for my quote by over £200!

S and Se a 12, and sport a 13 i believe.

thats what i thought

well admrial has it as a group 13

SE

That's odd, as well as the fact that they're still the cheapest insurer for me by a mile! They do insure superchargers though (I asked a while back), the normal rule applies that it wouldn't be replaced if damaged in an accident, but they will cover the car if supercharged.

Bear in mind that Sky *do* cover mods like-for-like. i.e. if your supercharger was damaged/destroyed in an accident, then they'd pay for a new one ! (assuming the car wasn't written off).

With most insurance companies, if your mod is damaged, then even if it's covered by the insurance company, they *won't* pay for a replacement !

well..

they are still cheaper for me by miles.

but .... they said "if it comes with it installed @ the factory we can insure it, if its added on extra later on, its a modfication, and we cant insure it" :shutit:

Bizzar

Phone them up and ask them.. if you could! maybe you can make more sense out of them :whistling:

That's not unusual for insurance companies though, i.e. a lot won't cover modified cars. They've obviously a bit confused about factory-fitted chargers though.
