Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and looking for advise.

does anyone have any tips about transplanting a v8 soarer engine into a cobra.

Yes I know it may be sacrilligous to do so but any views about the challenges of the engine management system. It's a 1991 sc 400.

thanks

Why? It's cheaper and easier to get power out of a small-block Ford (or Chevy, but that would be wrong for a Cobra, wouldn't it?). There's not much available off the shelf for the 1UZ-FE.

If you must use the 1UZ (I assume you'd be using a manual gearbox), the simplest solution would be a standalone ECU of some sort.

The stock ECU controls the auto 'box, so you need to work around the inhibitors which prevent the engine being started if it's not in Park.

If you intend modding it, the earlier engines (up to 1994?) have stronger rods.

Bullet Cars in NZ sell "budget" supercharger kits.

Look for information on Soarer Central, Lextreme, and v-eight.com.
