Can I Use This Oil?

Hello, I've 5 ltrs of 5w-40 oil (bottle still sealed) from my previous car. Would this be ok in my 52 plate IS200 with 41k on the clock and full Lexus service history? I've seen 5w-30 being recommended on this forum but wonder how much difference there is between that and the oil I've got sat around. Greatful for any help.

Have a look in the manual- it tells you what grades of oil you can use.

Should be fine Pete, the book reccomends anything from 5-30 to 15-40 so would think its within range :)

fully synthetic 5W-30 or 5W-40 oil which has API-SJ, API-SL and API-SM on the label. lean towards 5W-30 with API-SL or API-SM for better engine protection, performance, and improved fuel consumption.
