Rx300 2003 Misc Questions

Recommended Posts

Please can anyone assist with the following questions.

1. The Bonnet of my RX300 is covered in stone chips, any idea on the cost of a respray for this, I live in the Wiltshire area UK.

2. When the Air Con is running there is some noise behind the dashboard of the gases circulating, is this normal? Also, how often should the system be re-gassed?

3. What is the best way to clean the Sat Nav screen to remove those finger marks.

Thanks

Laura

The best way i've found to clean the interior (including the screen) is a microfibre cloth.

The air con system should in my opinion be checked yearly in Springtime when the weather is getting warmer ( don't forget in the winter to run the system on milder days for a short while to keep the seals lubricated and therefore prevent problems occuring when you do really need it).

I dont normally recommend Kw*k F*t but I took mine there last year and as it was working to spec they didn't charge me but did the temperature probe checks in the vents etc and said they couldn't improve it.

To do the sat nav screen I bought some LCD screen cleaner from Aldi it's a pump action spray and so spray it on then I use kitchen towel to distibute the solution and finish with a microfibre cloth as Normski suggests, if you have any debris in the edges or corner I use a soft paintbrush to remove it.

It doesn't damage plastics or trim.

Sorry can't help with the paint job as I am a technician not an artist! lol

Lexus sell a little kit of cleaning fluid and a microfibre cloth for cleaning sat nav screens. A good alternative is to get some some fluid and cloth from an opticians - cost less than £3.00 and safe for screens. Personally I would never use a paper towel for cleaning anything in a car - they are very scratchy and create their own dust.

I would avoid using IPA too - it can remove the painted finish from interior plastics if you are not careful, although it is OK on nav screens, albeit it can be a bit "smeary".
