Using Obd2 Readers On A 1st Gen Gs300

Recommended Posts

I've thinking about ordering a USB OBD2 reader for the car - it's due a service soon but feels a little down on power so want to see what I can find before she goes in. Car in question is a 1997 1ST GEN GS300. I know OBD2 was introduced in 1996 but was it implemented on the 1st gen series of the GS? I know there's a diagnostic connection under the bonnet, but am not sure if just plugging the OBD2 reader into this would let me read the information from the car?

Anyone else had experience with this kind of thing?
