Help - Damaged Paintwork

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Been away for a week and found that my car had loads of bird Sh?t on the front bonnet ( 5 different splats). Got some soapy water and tried to remove it. Noticed the paint work has dulled and you can clearly see the pattern of the sh?t all over the front bonnet, looks absoutley horrible.

I have tried polish but it hasnt had any effect, the car is black and the paint work has dulled and there are signs of liitle cracks. Im so gutted. Is there any way to remove this, or do i need a full bonnet respray??

Ouch, soon as i see birdpoo on my car i wipe it straight away before it causes any damages. Being a black lexus any dullness will stick out like a sore thumb. Not sure what you can do if the paint has started to crack, otherwise i would have suggested T-cutting it as a last resort.

Nasty! :crying: Maybe you could try a few of coats of turtle wax colour magic, if not then i know Halfords will make you up an aerosol of your exact paint colour, as long as you give them your paint code.

Hi guys,

I used a bit of G3 cutting compound and have tried polishing over it numerous times but I think i have made it worse now.The paint work has dulled were the bird has done its do, its so evident on the bonnet, its like 5 different splats.

Are there any specialists in the london area that could bring the paint work back to its former shine via wet and dry and buffing it up with a machine polish. How much money am i looking at to do the whole bonnet?

i know this is going to sound harsh lol. but if it needs painting any way. wet flat the areas with 2000 wet and dry and machine polish it bk up to a shine

^^^ i can vouch for the above ^^^

the condition of pauls paintowrk was superb after he's used a similar method. i was pretty damn impressed with the result to be honest!!

give it a go mate and if it doesn't work out, then a bonnet respray is on the cards :crybaby:
