Transmission Question

Recommended Posts

Hi to All,

first of all thanks to all who viewed and answered to my previous topic.

i have a harrier rx 300, which is an automatic. but on the gear stick besides D there is position 'M'

and than on the stearing there are 2 buttons written down and UP.

Can anyone please help me identify what the two things are for. Thanks in advance.

also if possible can i get a downloadable copy of the English owners hand book as the car came with a japaneese one.

I would guess that the 'M' = manual/tiptronic function; and the buttons on your steering wheel are the same as 'paddle shifters' found of steering wheels on other cars.

Push the gear stick over to M position and then use the buttons on the steering wheel as your gears Tiptronic The gear you select will come up on your dash as you change gear up or down 1 2 3 etc.

As ihpj states it is like a paddle shift

i have one more question relating to the same, say i start of with the Auto D position can i jump on to M ( for example if i want to overtake) downshift gear, finish my overtaking and than put it back on the D position.
