Sc Pulley Screws Snapped.

Recommended Posts

Tom did you get the pulley off? Wasn't sure if the pulley would come off easily if the belt is removed.

Yes mate, after you remover the 3 screws (that in ur case snapped) and the main centre one the plastic cover can be removed and the clutch plate inside can be removed aswell. then i wud just put this in a vice and drill the screqs out, re tap them in M4 and ur finished.

Tom.

A pillar drill would be handy, but I'm not really sure that it would be critical. The screws are just clamping the clutch onto the pulley aren't they ? So as long as its on tight it wouldn't matter too much if the alignment of the screw holes wasn't quite vertical ?

I don't have a charger so can't check this and am not 100% sure.

If they are wrong the pulley will be out of balance - which is in no way a good thing Steve as it's running at a pretty high RPM as Patrik found out. I'm gonna get someone else to do it properly I think - rather than a slap dash effort by myself.

I have had an offer from someone so might be seeing some progress next week once i'm back from the Isle of Wight festival. Hope the weather holds :P

  • 3 weeks later...

ok so went to visit Rolex this weekend to get my airbox fitted after some teething issues which fitted fine. However the upside is that his brother is going to do me the great favour of drilling out my snapped screws and making sure the pulley is still balanced which is great. Will pick that up next friday on my way to a stag do in Barry.......

Pulley comes off pretty easily. Remove the front part of the assembly like in previous pictures. Undo the c-clip in the middle and the pulley will just come off. Needed some pursuasion with a hammer. Another piccy with no pulley and new airbox :).....

Right - so had a visit on Friday evening with Rolex who as promised had my pulley nicely machined, balanced and some super strong bolts in - Legend! So thats now back on my car and I'm truly loving it - for the first time since I've had it fitted. I no longer have the induction kit noise all the time and the pulley no longer makes a grinding noise when I change up or lift off. I must say that I did enjoy the induction kit to start with - as seeing grannies diving out of the road is pretty darn amusing - but It did not really sit with how i like my cars: which is sedate untill I really want to push it. Now it fits into this bracket and it makes a really nice noise when I change up at high revs :D.

Hopefully you can see the new fat pulley screws:
