Alloys Refurbed

Recommended Posts

Hi Peeps, I''l try to be quick with this. Today I had my alloys completely restored/refurbed by "The wheel specialist" in East Kilbride. Now, I live in Newtonhill which is close to Aberdeen, and tried to find a reputable and reasonable place locally who could do a proper job and give customer focus. Well, I tried a few, and failed to find somewhere who were a) interested in taking my money, B) Keen to please and sell their professional services to give a high standard of wheel retore/refurb. No chance. Why?? Maybe becuase there is too much Oil money still gurgling around in Aberdeenshire. So I gave up and, found "The Wheel Specialist" after trawling the web. I left early this morning and drove the 140 odd miles down to East Kilbride where I was met by John Grove of the aforementioned. Well, I can only say I was treated like someone real special. He showed me what they did, gave me a choice of finishes and explained the process, even down to removing rubber, refurbing, baking the wheels in the often, finishing and waxing.... They ran me to the nearby shopping Mall, and, picked me up later when the jobe was finished. Result=Alloys which look completely brand new. These guys are BRILLIANT, and I can recommend them to anyone.. Honestly. (I don't give praise lightly either!). So, if you are in Haggis land, and you want a truly excellent and well priced alloy refurb'/restore.. THESE ARE THE GUYS.

Praise over.............

Col... :D :) :D :) :hehe:

I'll take pic's tomorrow mate. Price for full restore on 4 wheels was £240 squidlies. (originally they quoted me £270 by e-mail, then followed up with a courtesy call saying that they'd do all four fot the £240!). - Mine are 17" wheels...

Money well spent... I'd say so.

It's the fine concentric grooves on the fact of the wheel. Normally refurbushers don't restore the diamond-cut finish, and even if they can it usually costs extra to do so (and can be a problem since it can make the wheel more prone to corrosion).

EDIT - one of Patrik Lindblom's pics showing the original diamond-cut finish :

I've been to the Manchester branch and again they were really friendly and helpful :)

PS

I had the wheels in my avatar done gloss black at my mates place - look fantastic and good choice I think.

Nice one.

My alloys are in a bad state but haven't been able to find a recomended outfit to do a refurb on them.

I'll check these guys out.

I got the standard 17" alloys as well but was thinking of making them grey or black.

I saw black ones in their showroom/Office. They looked neat. They also had silver/black two clour finishes on 18" ers which looked really cool.

Upload them to a photo hosting website such as Photobucket (but there are loads of others too). You'll need to create an account there if you don't have one.

You'll see that somewhere like Photobucket will automatically generate the "img" tags for you that you need for each photo. Copy and paste these for each photo into your posting. Check it with a preview then post when you're happy with it.

Put your mouse over each of the thumbnail pictures in the album in turn, and copy the contents of the "IMG code" field that pops up in the box (right-click and "Copy" if you're running Windows).

Then paste that code straight into your posting and the pics will appear.

I'll get used to this somehow.. here we go.. There's a couple which have a redish tint. This is coz the brick reflects the clour on to the alloy. Think I'll start buyin "practical photography"!.. lol
