How To Remove Console Front

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I bought a two years old Lexus 220d where a telephone carkit has been mounted and connected to the audio system.

Because I want to remove this carkit (and probably install a Parrot handsfree kit) I like to know how I can remove the front of the central console, so I can dismantle the device.

I don't have the multimedia console, but the one you see here: http://www.dashmount.co.uk/Nov05/711068.htm

I'm a little anxious to force the console front using a screwdriver, so I like to know if there's probably a tutorial on how to remove the console front.

Thanks for any help.

Search on this forum and on Google for the Lexus IS "Nav Hack" or "Satellite Navigation Hack" to get detailed instructions on how to remove the front console with the multimedia. I am guessing it won't be too different for the non-multimedia front console.

From what I remember it is a bit complicated (especially removing the air vents). Good Luck!

There are some useful videos on Youtube that show how to remove the centre console of both Manual and auto transmission cars.

One of these should do it for you.

I would use plastic pry tools though ... be very very careful using an unprotected screwdriver blade.

You can use screwdrivers but wrap the blade in tape (masking or electrical type).
