Grom Usb Adapter

Recommended Posts

I installed the Grom USB adapter but it failed to play any tracks on the USB stick. I tried another stick thinking the previous might be damaged. Made no difference.

1. It recognizes the USB stick for a few seconds becasue the red light flickers on the stick but then it goes out and I can't hear the songs.

2. I upgraded the firmware from Grom's site that was meant to be compatible with the plastic Grom box that I was sent. No change.

3. I setup the folder as instructed on Grom's site. For example, 1-House, 2-Favourties etc... and dropped a track in each folder. No change.

4. I formatted the usb stick. No change.

5. The auxillary cable that came with the adapter worked fine with the adapter.

Are there any known problems with the lexus 6 cd changer? Has anybody else bought this version.

I'm not having much luch with adapters. First xcarlink now this.

Third time lucky most like plump for the ipod version now.

Might be stating the "bleedin' obvious" but have you made sure you have cycled through the CD button to CD2 for the stick rather than CD1 for the internal 6?

EDIT: And now having looked at the full manual, the mode cycle using CD->FM->CD

Did you connect up the male jack input as well?

In which case try any mp3 player (mass storage device) and see if you get any response.

I'll be interested in your response as I was just about to put my order in for the very same device.

Well I went ahead and bought one, and installed this evening

Just one point when I was becoming a bit worried and couldn't get anything out of it.

I went back to stage one and the Ignition on > stereo on > ignition off > ignition on sequence and hey presto everything was working perfectly.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I've only got round to coming back to the site today. Too late to try as I've returned it and asked for the ipod version to be sent.

Vista does not have FAT16 option.

Thanks once again.

Hi

I've just installed my Grom USB2 with the extra ipod cable attachment so I can use ipod, usb and aux mode.

Usb mode is great.Aux is ok. The main issue is that there is no ipod mode. It changes to and from aux/usb without. The ipod can play through the stereo if i disconnect the usb etc and change the cd to cd 1 track 1 but no controls.

I think the problem lies in that there is no ipod mode selection i.e the woman who says aux mode, then usb mode will not say ipod mode.

Its a nano 4th in a 51(2001) Is 300

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I've tried this and its still not working.

There is no IPOD mode available.

I sent an email to Grom and received the following reply:

Hi,

The module you have does not support iPod. It only supports Auxliliary connection.

In order to play iPod through AUX input you have to switch device into AUX mode as explained here:

http://gromaudio.com/software.html

Hope it helps,

I am sure that this isnt the case as there are many references all over the web who have all three modes working:

http://gromaudio.com/downloads/GROM-USB.pdf

http://www.newsguide.us/automotive/afterma...e-for-Ford-too/

http://www.carbuyersnotebook.com/grom-usb2-car-kit/

http://www.autoscorner.com/grom-usb2-mp3-c...dapter-kit.html

Could someone confirm that they are using the new GROM USB2 kit with USB, AUX and IPOD connected and working.

Thanks
