Hi there

Thinking about doing a HID headlamp conversion to my 2000 IS200se and I would like to know exactly what it is that I need to buy??

I have had a look at the website www.hids4u.co.uk and was wondering if anyone has followed this website and installed a set from them??

What I want to know is do I need a to buy 2 sets?? One for dipped headlight and one for main beam?? Also, what size bulb is best for when it comes to MOT time as I can't be bothered with the hassle of changing things for MOT and then changing them back.

Thanks in advance for all replies.....

you can just buy a kit of eBay mate £50,its up to you do you want hid's in your full beam?i have them in my headlights 10k's and full beam 8k's and highly recomend them.

as for mot time depends on how strict the mot man is its not the bulb colour thats the problem its the alighnment and light scatter.you can get them adjusted so that they are almost right. the ones you need are hb3 and hb4 mate.

So am I right in saying I need the following to do the high beam, main beam and foglight:-

High Beam:- HB3 bulbs, ballasts, 6000k bulbs (to pass MOT's safely) and all wiring.

Main Beam:- HB4 bulbs, ballasts, 4000k bulbs (to pass MOT's safely) and all wiring.

Fog Light:- HB4 bulbs, ballasts, 6000k bulbs (to pass MOT's safely) ans all wiring.

If anyone feels this is incorrect please feel free to advise me.

I would rather have bulbs that are going to pass MOT's without having to go through the process of changing for MOT time.

Thanks in advance folks....

i wouldn't use 4k's mate(yellow light)its not really the colour that gives you the greef on the mot(i'm a tester)its the beam patteren/scatter so as long as you have them alighned right you should be ok.(unless your mot tester is being harsh)

i would go for 6k headlight (i use 10k i like the blue light) 6k full beam(i use 8k not as blue)and yes they will be brighter than headlights when on.

any will pass on full beam as their is nothing to check apart from they are working

front fogs dont come into the mot so you can do what you want with them.

One pretty common possibility round here is to reverse the polarity of the wiring to the ballast.

On mine just plugged the ballast cable into the standard headlamp bulb connector the other (wrong) way round = job done ...

Good luck.

checked the bulbs and theres little yellow dots inside the main bit of the bulb.... tried them on n nothing happened... not happy. any info. i dont remember the yellow bits on ma old hids

So how are they looking? Im thinking of getting some before the winter kicks in. What ones did you get? Have you got a link? Did you get them for flasher/full beam aswell as I heard somewhere HIDs don't like being flashed. I may just get them for main then white halogens for full with leds for side.

Regards

Gareth
