After being a member of the forum for a long time I've just taken delivery of a new Lexus IS 250 SEL Auto in Brechin Slate with Sussex Grey. It'a an absolute dream to drive but then I knew that, I've driven all the competition and this suits me the best.

Thanks to the established members of the forum who answered many questions on the car, and no thanks to the ones who didn't want me, a non owner, on the forum in the first place. Some join the forum when they become owners and many have regretted not joining earlier and gaining more knowledge before they bought, I did it the way it suited me.

I didn't go down the online route, after visiting a few dealers I opted for the one who worked hard to get my business, initially I told them it was an auto I was interested in but they suggested I try the others just to be sure. The price agreed was competitive and I am very happy.

I knew more about this car before I bought than any other I have owned, having driven them all it had to be the 250 Auto, it's a totally different car to the 220d and to a large degree the 250 manual. I'd always liked the SEL but when the model was updated I was a bit dubious about the colour of the wood trim but having seen it a few times I now prefer it to the previous colour.

You don't have to be an owner to join the forum, if you're interested in the car then sign up and ask any questions you may have. The vast majority of members will make you welcome and help as much as they can, long-standing members plus a few newcomers between them have an unbounded wealth of knowledge on the car.

You may get one or two who don't think you should be on the site if you're not an owner, although me buying one may shut them up, in my case there have only been a couple, one came and went pretty quickly, one of his gripes was the non folding rear seats, they were very important to him but he never thought to look or ask before buying. Hope to contribute more now I'm an owner and will upload some photo's at some point. Thanks.

Bit disappointing that you had that experience.....

But glad you had all your questions answered and now bought the right car for you. It's definitely the pick of the bunch, the SE-L auto so hope it's all smooth sailing from here :)

I did it the other way around, and joined after I had purchased, having done the research anyone should do before spending significant sums of money. Having joined, I have benefited from the informed and sensible posts made by members of the forum, and hopefully have helped others in a small way. Long may it continue to our mutual benefit.

Thanks for good wishes, busy polishing, just come up for air!

congratulations on the new purchase. I had the same until last week but am now the proud owner of the 250c se-l. I would recommend joining as a gold member (my info still doesn't show that I am but i am) - discount on service alone can be worthwhile.
