My First Rear End Slide

hi all

well i was coming home from tipton west midlands and i turned in to brandon way next thing know am slideing there was no cars on the road :o

but there was petrol or some thing on the road

it was raining all day today

just before the slide there was one light that was keep on coming on on the dash it was a car with skid marks

somethng like this but in yellow

I believe that is the traction control indicator, i assume you may have also heard a strange electrical clicking or buzzing noise while this light was on??

but it was only on for a sec or 2 than off again

Defo traction control light, if you want to check, just boot it in the wet. Should spin rear tyres and same light will come on.

Doubt there was anything on the road, IS's slip n slide in the wet.

hi true its traction control but my is dnt slide i have to push it with the traction turned off to get it to go side ways

Sounds like you need better tyres mate. My Altezza was pretty loose in the wet with the Kumho's that came on it. Have since replaced them with Bridgestone Potenza RE001 & they're much better. You have to force it to loose traction now

You’ll this time of the year with it being cold, wet, and all winter like, that, that light will come on more.

There is nothing to worry about, as it’s just letting you know that your tire was spinning, and that it has reduced power to stop you from spinning out.

If you had turned your TRC off, you would have found that your “slide” would have been A LOT worst !!!

Last year, I got a bit twitchy on a motorway with black ice. It set my heart going for a bit, but I was so grateful that we have TRC on our cars !

In the GS, the flashing skid symbol means the traction control has kicked in. If it beeps at the same time the stability control has kicked in as well. From experience the VSC only kicks in on aggressive sideways slides - not that I do that regularly :-)

i have the same and it only tends to slide on 1 particular road that is cobbled at the junction, so when pulling out it does slip a bit but otherwise no issues at all!!!

having wider tyres makes the loading per contact area far less than a narrower tyre so increases the chances of a slide.

check your tyres pressures, read depth/wear and the most basic of all dont floor it! also remember when the temps drop below 7C the rubber of normal tyres starts to harden and you have less grip, if you are having troubles now then i would hate your chances when it does get cold and there is a good frost.

But as yu mention there was something on the road it could well have been diesel and it wont matter if you had good tyres or not - it will cause a slide
