Radiator Enquiry

Hi folks

I'm having to buy a new radiator for my 2000 plate manual gearbox IS200. I have found a guy on E-Bay selling a radiator that he says will fit both the manual and automatic type cars. I asked him to confirm that this will fit the manual as I was under the illusion that the automatic had an additional pair of outlet pipes that are at the bottom of the radiator that are used to feed the oil cooler on the automatic.

He confirmed that the radiator was indeed for an automatic but will also fit the manual and with regards to the two pipes to just ignore them and it will fit OK.

Now what I want to know is is this correct?? I was thinking that the outlet pipes would have to be blanked off at least or are they blanked to begin with?? Has anyone out there fitted an automatic type radiator to their manual car and have they had any problems??

Thanks in advance for any help you folks can give me...

I can't see any issue with what he has said. The tranny cooler is just a pipe looped through the bottom tank of the rad, so if not is use, will not leak anything anywhere. You could blank them I guess, but it wouldn't be mandatory. If anything, keeping them open and getting some airflow through them when on the move may keep them dryer and less likely to corrode.
