Brake Discs/pads Problem

Hi guys,

I've just changed all the discs/pads (inc the handbrake shoes) on my 2001 is200,

The problem i now have is that theres a constant scraping sound coming from the 2 rear wheels, i've loosened the handbrake adjustment right off and still no difference, also whilst driving the car and applying the brakes or handbrake the noise doesn't change.

Has anyone ever come across this problem before? or would it be best to take the car to a garage?

Thanks

you'll find it is the dust guards they don't touch the wheels they touch the back of the disk just reach through the wheel and push the cover back job done.

hi, i've just checked the guard and pushed it back slightly and its not touching the disc at all, but thanks anyway.

looks like its a trip to the garage for them to sort it out!

remove the disk again sounds like the disk is rubbing off the shoe mounting plate, when you remove the disk were it has been rubbing will be shiney.

Did you get this sorted? I have exactly the same problem with my 01 (X) IS200 and the rear disc.

I cannot work out why the shoe mounting plate is so close to the groove in the back of this disc, unless they have slightly modified the plate on newer models and the discs they now sell are no longer compatible??
