Bluetooth Car-kit

Hi all,

Looking at sorting a Bluetooth car kit for my motor (maybe santa will do the honors for me lol). I have seen a few of the all-in-one units that clip onto the sun visor getting good reviews and they seem to be reasonably priced. I remember having a cigarette lighter one several years ago and it was really really poor. I guess technology has improved a lot since then, and now have lots of features (FM transmitter, voice dialling etc)

Was looking at the Jabra SP700 as an example

Anybody use car kits like these? Any recs? I am unlikely to use it regularly (one or two short calls a week) so does not justify a professional install kit.

Any opinions welcome.

I have had the Jabra 500 for nearly 3 yrs now....It has worked fine until recently!, i am also not a regular user!..

..And here is the point!......Because i dont use it often, I forget to habitually switch it on and then i get a call while on the Move!!!!!......Likewise, when i do switch it on, I tend to forget about it and leave it on!....Which then becomes a pain if i get a call and the car is parked on the drive at home (i answer the call, only to find the caller is talking to an empty car!)

Leaving it on by mistake will gradually wear down the Battery, Only to find it dies when you need it most!

For these reasons I will be looking at the alternatives that are hardwired to the phone!

Thanks Phil, from what I can gather then from your statement is that the unit performs its function as expected, call quality is ok etc etc. It is just getting into a usage habit that is the only drawback?

Can you not wire these kits in then to switch on and off with the ignition?

Fitting a proper handsfree kit is quite straightforward though - I did mine myself, only took a few hours and I had never done anything like it before.

I have put the Parrot CK3100 in my GS and the misses's Focus. They are excellent.
