Dodgy Texts From Listers

Anyone else been getting annoying texts from Listers (Lexus Coventry in my case)?

When you try to reply with "STOP", or anything else for that matter, the number is +44 79999999 which is obviously invalid. The sender is someone called Tania.

I thought this kind of practice was outlawed

That is weird, best to ring the dealer and tell them to take you off their database.

I had following SMS from Lexus Coventry:

"Brand new Lexus with complimentary upgrades. Save ££££'s! Only 5 available. Call Lexus Coventry 02476518100 Quoting reference number 2009."

I can't see any problem with them sending people on their database text messages. Presumably you gave them your mobile number but didn't request that they not contact you by SMS.
