Bat Phone In Side Arm

My LS400 Mk2 has a Motorola Car Phone mounted in the front arm rest. It works, or at least it appears to, but is not connected. Can these phones still be used and if so by which Network or should I have it removed or just leave it be?

Useful for self defence!

Also known as a brick, so it could be used to stop the car rolling away when jacked up at the rear.

I guess its a period piece and would go well with the car on sale but those phones were so slow!

Personally I would leave it in situ and connected, reason being there is part of the wiring that connects to the sound system mute circuit and incorrect removal could result in no more music.

Also I seem to remember that the phone is analogue and therefore completely useless in today's digital age.

Thanks chaps. Will leave it be then. At least it will come in handy if I want to play at Z-Cars I suppose.

Did read somewhere that there were a couple of cases of them causing the emergency braking system to activate when answered. However, that seems a bit unlikely now...I hope!

my dad used it as a 2nd line when he had it 6yrs ago....i've never bothered but he just had it on contract with his mobile company and it was a 2nd line...no Bluetooth back then but its a similar system as its linked to the stereo
