we recently had into stock this lovely rx300 what a fabulous car, the day after it arrived we started it up and it made a sort of whining noise, we drove it to our mechanics they said it sounded like the starter motor, we turned it off the re-started and the noise dissapeared, in the mean time the managment light came on along with the vsc light, it was then connected to obd and the following code is showing p0330 knock sensor 2 circuit malfunction (bank 2) the car appears to drive ok...the code was erased....we then used the car for a journey and i noticed the gearbox juddery when accelerating, the management light reapeared along with the vsc light, and it went into limp mode, then shortly after lost all gears...we placed it back on obd and along with the code mentioned above we got a new code po765 shift solenoid malfunction, garage say bad news so i was wondering what you guys thought and what you may reccomend, all the best matt

Hi Matt,

I suppose the worst senario is a complete replacement transmission ( Lexus Dealer method) but a transmission specialist should be able to repair the box if the parts are available.

Have a look at this link

It could also be a wiring problem to the solenoids, but to access them, the transmission sump has to be removed.

The code you are getting points to solenoid 5.

Is the fluid level correct?

Not cheap that but I would still have the original box looked at 1st especially if you have a replacement fitted and it is still the same because of a broken wire or a faulty transmission ECU.

Years ago I had a Rover 825 auto which decided to flash the transmission light and only drove in 3rd ( failsafe default) it turned out to be a broken wire to a shift solenoid. OK it was a Rover but it only cost me a bit of solder and tape to fix.
