Do I Need A New Clutch?

I have a IS220d and it has caused nothing but stress, although I still think it is a great vehicle.

My missus took it out in the snow today, not a good idea!

She had a tricky moment going up a hill and said that she gave it loads of beans whilst slipping the clutch in second. The car really stinks now and apparently there was a lot of smoke pouring through the air vents.

Am I correct in guessing that she has burnt the clutch out?

Can anyone advise what sort of budget I am likely to have to find to fix the problem, please?

Thanks in advance]

Why was she giving it loads of revs in the snow? Sounds more like the smell could be the tyres from spinning.

If the smell is from the clutch though it doesn't necessarily mean it's burnt out but has worn some of the friction material off it.

When things have cleared up a bit, find yourself a steep hill, hold it on the hand brake and try and drive off, if the car bites and tries to move it's fine, if the clutch slips then it either needs adjusting or replacing.
