Displaying New Tax Disc Before Expiry Of Current One - Ok To Do?

If suppose you get your tax disc few days before the current one expires - is it 'legal' to display it in the windscreen prior to the current one expiring? So I don't lose it!

I can't imagine there being any issue but I thought I'd ask just in case :)

Not sure how far in advance you can display new tax discs. You can tax cars up to 2 months before current tax expires but I wouldn't think you could display that far in advance. Maybe worth asking DVLA what constitutes a "valid" tax disc.

Very strange really that although the authorities can check electronically whether a vehicle is currently taxed, the offence of "not displaying" current tax disc still applies. You can actually be "done" if you display in the wrong place......ie if you put it on the offside of your windscreen!!!!
