1999 Is200 Se Clutch -possible Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Couple of days ago, I started to smell something like very badly cooked cabbage like smell from my car and I concluded it was my clutch. This was the second time

Since then, my clutch feels very soft and funny, especially when I put my foot down, it goes right down (like it is not holding anything) than it was use to do. Today, I have taken it to a garage and asked for this problem and the guy said I might have cooked it (I assume he means it’s gone)

It does drive fine and it is not slipping yet. A local garage asked me about £630 :crying: (all inclusive of VAT and labour) for a replacement original Lexus OEM clutch, 4 new brake pads, and new gearbox oil and quoted about 6 hours of labour. (Hence there was only £40 difference between aftermarket and OEM so went with the original part)

Does the price sound about right to you guys? As this is my first time taking any car to a garage I really don’t know if that sounds about right. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
