Where's Best For Car Insurance ?

Recommended Posts

im 20 with 3 yrs ncb and got my renewal from directline yesterday for £915! so i phoned them up a being a bit grumpy and they reduced it to £835 with free green flag cover! happy days!

Thats a really good deal,

The cheapest i got when i was 19 was £1800 because i had careless driving and only 1 years NCB

try quinn direct

I am 21, 1years ncb, 3 points and a claim and live in Liverpool a dreaded L post code :o

I paid £1100 in September fully comp with the benefit of being able to drive any car too.

my car is an is200 se 2002.

Also put your parents on the insurance as named drivers. If they have a good record (eg no points etc) as it brings the premium down because the more risky driver (you) has less chance to drive it.

However I got a qoute with them last week as i was thinkink of replacing the IS with a 1.9tid saab

and the quote was shall wee say rediculous £2500!

I am sticking with the IS now anyway after quite a few people saying i was mad to get rid.

Good luck

ohhh sorry mate haha what did you actually do to get them?

long story short, i had only been driving for about 2months, was on my way to a job interview. this involved driving through the centre of leicester in the traffic. spent a little too long looking at my directions (didnt hav sat nav then) went throughy a red light and an undercover car was following me, saw me do some apparent rapid lane changes as well as the red light and not using indercators. Got summoned to court and pleaded guilty to going through teh red light nothing else.

Got a £225 fine and 4 points (meaning any other points within 2 years would result in a ban)

no points since and im a better driver because of it, just annoying how much harsher the insurance company see carelees driving compared to say 3 seperate speeding offences

:tsktsk: lol

Despite what others said, I would recommend all the comparison websites. Nothing to loose, apart from the fact that you will get phoned by some people. Ended up getting a good quote from ibuyeco insurance. Seem fine to me. Just shop around, phone and try and get a little bit more off.

Worth googling for reviews and forums about the actual insurance companies. There are some horror stories out there. I know at least 2 mentioned above are very wriggly when claiming. One of them takes learners cheaply but jacks it up massively when test passed, and you are contracted to it in the small print. Beware.

I got a very low price this year using a comparison site, Nationwide - they use Liv Vic.

Hiya folks,

Got my renewal from Churchill today - nearly £20 a month dearer than last year

Hunting around trying to get the best deal

before anyone mentions confused.com etc they're just a waste of time for me - with quotes frequently coming in at over £2000 !

Im 23 and have a CD10 on my license for 4 yrs ago, but have 5 yrs no claims discount.

Im just waiting for Adrian Flux to email me my quote.

Wondering where you folks get you Insurance from ? especially if you have convictions

unsure.gif

I would recommend going to a specialist broker like Keith Michaels.

I pay £88 per month, fully comp including business insurance (up to 1000 miles a year for business) + an extra £28 one off payment for basic breakdown cover for the year. I'm 21, only been driving for a year (March '13,) and was a named driver beforehand, therefore have 0 years no claims bonus.

TESCO INSURANCE FOR THE WIN!

Yes but the problem I found with some of the more generic insurers is that it's difficult to get much help in the event of a claim. Or that was my experience anyway.
